How it works

We check the login and e-mail pair against the existing account data.
If the data matches, a signed recovery link is sent to the stored mailbox.
The new password is chosen only on the confirmation page. Nothing is mailed in plain text.

Recovery rules

Before you send the request

The form always returns the same success message so random guests cannot cleanly enumerate accounts.
If the account has a secret answer configured, the confirmation page will require it too.
The recovery request is throttled after repeated attempts from the same source.
If the letter does not arrive, first check the account email and the spam folder.
